Fun high energy concert. Although, too loud.
Excellent selection of Skillet's songs, enjoyed the concert. Liked the 7:00 p.m. start time for the show and the 90-minute format. Enjoyed the more recent song, very energetic and lively. Could have had more new songs in the set. Enjoyed the medley of several of Skillet's popular songs. My wife and I have been to many concerts at the Hoyt Sherman Place and other locations in Des Moines, Iowa City, and Cedar Falls. Hoyt Sherman Place has excellent theater acoustics. It seemed as though the sound person thought they were in a much larger venue, such as an arena . . . the sound was simply too loud for the Hoyt Sherman Place. The best concerts often have less and better balanced volume appropriate for the space. At about 60 minutes into the concert I went to the lobby and listened from there to temporarily get the ringing out of my ears. Great concert! But it shouldn't take two days after the concert for my ears to stop ringing. I returned when they announced a drum solo, which I wanted to see. I remained in the theatre through the remainder of the concert. At one point during the concert, I heard people behind me say: "I should have brought ear plugs" due to the volume.
